Come and visit us from the 2nd – 13th of September 2020 when we are showcasing a mass planting of Tulips in the Garden. It is our way of farewelling Winter and inviting you to the promise of Spring! This is our big fundraising event of the year for the garden and you will notice that we are extending it across two weeks instead of one weekend this year, for your enjoyment.
Each weekend of our tulip display we will have some events planned, including music in the garden, art, special plant sales and an Eden Garden discovery trail sponsored by Kings Seeds. Each weekend of our tulip display we will have some events planned, including music in the garden, an art exhibition, special plant sales and a children’s nature trail. On Sunday 6th August, the Happy Kids Face Painting will be here from 1 -3pm, so bring the children for a great family day out and enjoy the Tulip display as well as our lovely café.
Every year we love to impress you with our inspiring Tulip display and this year we were so lucky to receive most of our bulb order which was held up by the Covid 19 Lockdown! We managed to get them in the ground just in time and our staff and volunteers have even managed to pot up 12 varieties for you to purchase and enjoy at home. Available for $15 per pot with 5 bulbs in each, some of the varieties include Purple Prince, Honeymoon, Verona, Dynasty, Ile de France and Mansella. Get in quickly as they fly out the door every year! Some are already on sale now.
We will have many other plants for sale on our shelves outside the Reception building including a special delivery, kindly donated to us from Zealandia Nursery. We will be stocked up with our own plants too, including Hyacinths, Swan plants, Succulents, Vireya Rhododendrons and even some Stag Horns. As our regulars know, our sale plants are healthy and well-priced!
Other things to look out for in the Garden at springtime are the magnolias, tree rhododendrons, Taiwanese cherry blossoms, and the colourful growth which appears on our Japanese Maples at this time of year. Our Hippeastrum and Daffodil bulbs are also flowering at this time.
Throughout the display period, Eden Garden Café will be serving morning and afternoon teas and lunches. There are plenty of tables in our conservatory and outside in the garden so there’s room for everyone who would like to sit down and have a bite to eat.
This year, our tulip display runs from Wednesday 2nd September and every Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday through to Sunday 13th September. Doors open at 9am and close at 4pm. The café will be open for extended hours during the festival from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
Adult entrance is $12, NZ Seniors and Students are $8 and children under 12 are free along with our Eden Garden Members.
We look forward to welcoming you with your friends and family and we thank you and our garden sponsors for your support. As a non-profit organisation we value this very much as all proceeds raised go back into the upkeep of Eden Garden. Check our website or Facebook page to see if the tulips are blooming before you arrive!
