If you wish to visit your memorial here more often, this is the ideal package for you. For the cost of under 5 visits per year you can become a Society Member and treat us like your local.

Get free access to events and seminars, a free hot drink on Tuesdays when you purchase food at the cafe, 10% discount on full price shop purchases, excluding original artworks and plants.  And throughout the year there are newsletters to bring you other exciting offers and promotions.

All proceeds go back into the garden as Eden Garden is a not-for-profit Society.

Get Involved and Become a Volunteer

Today we continue to maintain this beautiful space for all our visitors – whether you are here to see the Gardens, meet friends in the café, a high tea party, pay your respects to a loved one with a memorial or are here for a business function – everyone is welcome to this beautiful place to take time with thought and find inspiration.

We have volunteers who help us to maintain the garden and help with reception duties as well as Committee members and Trustees. If you would like to join us too, please click here.

Positions Available

 Part Time Manager - 25-30 hours flexible

This is a key leadership role and will encompass all of your garden and management experience, you will need an eye for detail as well as an empathetic style when working with bereaved clients. As a not-for-profit organisation, organising successful events is a key element to raising funds to support the gardens on-going success.

This is a rare opportunity for you to excel and every day will be different, working with a fantastic team of passionate people, volunteers and long-term clientele.

Core responsibilities in the role include:

  • Effective and inclusive management of the garden, administration and café teams.
  • Business experience with a full understanding of finance.
  • Horticultural qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Ability to work with a range of stake holders including sponsors, visitors, volunteers and Executive Committee.
  • Have sound promotional and event experience with a good understanding of marketing through social media.
  • A logical idea of operations and ability to think laterally.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and confidence using business software

Full Time Gardener Position


  • A relevant NZ Level 4 qualification in Amenity Horticulture is preferred with a minimum of 5 years or practical experience (essential)
  • Current Site Safe, Growsafe certificate
  • A current NZ Drivers Licence
  • A positive ‘can do’ attitude, have a great work ethic, be self motivated and able to priortise work within set time frames
  • Have a passion for gardening with an excellent knowledge of plants
  • Have a high level of integrity, and the ability to work well within a small gardening team, including volunteers, be well presented, honest and reliable.
  • Eligible to work in NZ
  • Hours of work 7am to 3 pm Monday to Friday

Volunteer Roles Available

Seat Repairer and plaque cleaners – need about 3 people with ‘handyman’ skills as our memorial seats need some TLC! (Fridays)

Plant Propagation expert – we love to sell on plants that we grow to share the love. (Fridays to begin with)

Café servers – delivering food and drinks to tables (Tuesday – Sunday)

A reasonable level of fitness is required for most positions
