Eden Garden wish to call for nominations for the Executive Committee for Eden Garden Society Incorporated.
The Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday 13 December 2020 at 2pm and the new executive committee will take office at this time.
Following resignations from the committee during a challenging year the remaining committee, outside of the AGM, requested interest from members and approached recommended personnel with a broad offering of relevant skills to service support for the operational needs of Eden Garden. Below is the list of present committee members and brief bios of those willing to stand for re-election. We are especially seeking people with skills in legal & compliance and marketing & sponsorship. The executive committee requires 7-10 positions to be filled. If we do not fill 7 positions at the AGM, we will look to co-opt skilled members during the 2020-21 year.
Micheline (Mich) Newton is currently Visitor Services Manager at Botanic Gardens. Mich has served on the committee of Eden Garden Society for over 7 years and brings a wealth of knowledge around HR and visitor experience as well as marketing.
Don Gibson has been a Chartered Accountant since 1982, and established his first accounting practice in 1985. He has previously served on the College Rifles Rugby Committee and the College Rifles Sports Committee.
Ann Nicholas has 35 years of experience in the horticultural industry including the growing, retail and sales areas. Ann has also run her own horticultural businesses and has experience in running the Ellerslie Flower Show with gardening and plants being her lifelong passion.
Al (Wal) Vendt has extensive experience in the building and hardscape landscaping industries. Amongst a number of projects, one of his favourites was for BLEENZ creating the children’s playground for the blind and visual impaired, not only making it visually pleasing but creating a very tactile experience as well which added extra challenges.
Anne Martin has over 25 years experience in retail and hospitality having run her own various business enterprises including a winery and wedding venue. Anne brings valuable experience also in marketing.
Graeme Bakker has over 30 years experience in business management and in the education sector. Graeme has served on a number of boards over the years and brings a great deal of experience also in HR. He has been involved in a number of start up projects including the creation of ‘Boomer Business’ Community Sheds and ‘Eye on Nature’ environmental education programme for children.
